DAILY PROGRAM

DAY 1

Arrival at Sofia Airport. Transfer to the hotel and accommodation. Walking tour in the city centre with professional guide, including visit to Alexander Nevski Cathedral - one of the largest Eastern Orthodox cathedrals in Europe, as well as one of Sofia’s symbols and a primary tourist attraction; St. George Rotunda, St. Sophia Church, built by emperor Justinian in the 6th century, National Theatre, former Royal Palace, today housing the National Art Gallery and the Ethnographic Museum, Presidency, etc. Optional visit of National Museum of History and Boyana Church in Sofia (tour duration - approx. 4 hours).

 

Upon request in the evening - dinner at a traditional restaurant with folklore music and dances. Overnight in Sofia.

DAY 2

Breakfast. A free day in Sofia or, optional one-day tour to Plovdiv - European capital of culture 2019 (tour duration: approx. 8 hours). Walking tour in the old town, including the Roman Ancient Theatre, which was built in the 1st century AD and is nowadays considered to be the largest intact Roman construction in Bulgaria, Roman Stadium, St. Constantine and Helena Church, etc. Visit to the Ethnographic Museum. Return to Sofia. Optional dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Sofia.

DAY 3

Breakfast. Free time, or optional morning tour to Rila Monastery (for late departures only, tour duration - approx. 7 hours). Departure for Rila Monastery - the most exquisite example of monastery art and architecture in Bulgaria. Guided tour of the monastery. Visit to Nativity of the Virgin Church with its miraculous icon of the Virgin and splendid gilded iconostasis. Return to Sofia, transfer to the airport and departure.
