BRAN CASTLE

BRASOV, ROMANIA

Bran castle is located in the Carpathian mountains near the city of Brasov. This is a medieval frotress built in XIV c to protect Brasov from the Hungarians and late from the Turks. It is located on the top of a hill overlooking the local village. There is a picturesque view. The place is famous as the castle of Dracul, a fiction hero. Historians believe his real name is count Vlad Tsepesh, very cruel personality that used to kill people by impalement. Locals adored him because he protected them from the Turks. The visitor can take a look at the castle of the count and also the near open air museum representing some traditional houses.
